Behind a Coffeebar

She works behind a coffee bar
Waiting for the next smile
It's raining cats and dogs
And people are hurrying by
She stands behind a coffee bar
Waiting for the next smile
The windows are fogged
It's been raining for days

People come in
They shake off their umbrellas
They stand to get coffee
And don't notice her
She's waiting and waiting
But no one notices her ...

(Solo)

She works behind a coffee bar
Waiting for the next smile
Outside the sun breaks through
The sky is brightening
She stands behind a coffee bar
Waiting for the next smile
People are so busy
They fold their umbrellas

Then people come in
And don't notice her
They stand to get coffee
And don't notice her
She's waiting and waiting
But no one notices her ...

Kaffeebar

This song for free on Jamendo.

It began with a melody from Achim. When I listened, it somehow gave ma a coffeebar athmosphere, and when I was on a business trip the other day, waiting for the check in the hotel, I saw a marker "PLease wait for the next smile!" So the text was born.        Jo

I love songs that are telling everyday stories from another person's point of view. Bruce Springsteen, whose older works I still adore, was one of the masters of this kind of lyric writing. And Jo is another one, as he is proving here.        Achim
